In the second race of the Tuesday night series at NCQMA we had the deck stacked against us... Gavin had a fever and though he skipped one practice, I wouldn't have been able to pry him out of that racecar for the race. After some rest in the tower and a dose of Motrin that came exactly at the right time race time came and he was ready!! Gavin started in the 4th position... Now 4th doesn't sound so bad, but thats on the outside and we want to be on the inside... so between the fever and 4th, I was hopeful, but not expecting too much out of the poor kid.....
Well I suppose I shouldn't ever under estimate his determination... He quickly got up to second and then took the lead from Colby White... They swapped the lead every lap for about 8 laps in a row.... While this battle was raging, Ryan Israel was able to sneak past them both to take the lead and as they were all now ALL in lap traffic, Gavin didn't recover the top spot, but boy did he rock out that race!!
We are so proud of you Gavin!! Go Gavin GO!
