So Gav grows.....

Obviously it is time to change the pics on the top of Gav's blog... He looks like he was tiny in those pics! He has changed so much so quickly! Baseball has turned to travel and wow, how the rules change when you go 10U and begin to play a little travel..... He is doing great thus far and the season is just beginning! He is playing 3rd, center and 1st. He is loving it and we are super proud of him. 

 This was his very first travel game. This is Gavin taking a lead for the first time in his baseball history.... I thought I was going to vomit! 

In their first tournament they finished 2nd overall! That is awesome for a group of kids who had never played a game together before then! Somehow after 3 games Gav still has good hair. LOL! 

This was a tournament out of town. It was a rough day at the plate for Gavin, but it teaches him a lot about staying the course and hanging tough. God has great things in store for this kid!!!

The End of All-Stars....

Tonight ended Gav's first career all star career. They lost tonight, but they played an excellent season! Gav never struck out, went from Playing LF and batting last to securing 3rd base and batting 5th. We will be playing with the SWFLL colts for travel ball this fall. It is sure to be an adventure! 

It has been a excellent year for Gavin. Can't wait to see what God has planned for him! 

A True All-Star

Gavin made the 9/10u Red team All-Star team and has been a rock star! He is playing 3rd base and is really rocking it out!!!! He made all 3 outs in the 1st inning of their last game!!! Unassisted double play and then a sweet throw to 1st for the last out! They won their first game, lost the second. They play again tomorrow night! Win or lose, he has done soooooo well! I am as proud of him as I can be!!! He also got 3 offers from travel teams tonight! Wow.... God has blessed Gavin with quite a gift! 

FAll BALL and the Spartan!

 

Gavin has been playing some excellent baseball this fall! He is on the same team he was last fall and they are currently undefeated! WOOO HOOO!! Go PIRATES!

Blaine and Gavin also ran their first Spartan race a couple of months ago! If you have never seen a spartan race, it is worth a google! Very cool! They loved it and already wanted to know when we were going again!

HOMERUN!!!!!!

GAVIN HIT HIS FIRST HOMERUN!!!!!!!

Last week Gavin hit an inside the park homerun. He loves baseball and puts a large amount of time into getting better! He works very hard and really hopes to make all stars this year! Here are some shots from his home run!!!! GO GAVIN GO!

Amazing Effort!!!

So today was an awesome day for Gavin. We had a game against the East Coast Eagles and just to give you an idea about them, their head coach is Aaron Ward... the Aaron Ward with 3 stanley cup wins, inluding the last one in 2006 with our Carolina Hurricanes! Sooooooooooo, we (WSYHA) got together with the Greensboro Stars and took them on as one team...

Gavin faced EIGHTY shots on goal.... Did you hear that?? EIGHTY..... of them he stopped 70 and we were so proud of him! He wanted to meet Aaron and though he was really shy, his momma is not... We tweeted him and he answered so we approached him and asked him for a pic with Gavin. He looks scared to death, but he was excited to meet him, just very nervous....

He decided to skate out on the second game as Greensboro had brought a goalie too. Midway through the second that goalie got hurt so we had to suit back up and take an additional 14 shots and take a shoot out for the entire East Coast Eagles team! We won the shoot out!!!  I can't tell you how proud of him everyone was! Parents I have never seen before were yelling "Go GAVIN!!! It was awesome!!! Proud, proud, proud Mom!!!!

Gavin just played his first full ice game and faced 68 shots on goal.... He saved 54!!!! The other goalie faced 5... I can't explain how proud we Re of Gavin!!! What an effort!!! Wow Gavin!!!
