So today was an awesome day for Gavin. We had a game against the East Coast Eagles and just to give you an idea about them, their head coach is Aaron Ward... the Aaron Ward with 3 stanley cup wins, inluding the last one in 2006 with our Carolina Hurricanes! Sooooooooooo, we (WSYHA) got together with the Greensboro Stars and took them on as one team... Gavin faced EIGHTY shots on goal.... Did you hear that?? EIGHTY..... of them he stopped 70 and we were so proud of him! He wanted to meet Aaron and though he was really shy, his momma is not... We tweeted him and he answered so we approached him and asked him for a pic with Gavin. He looks scared to death, but he was excited to meet him, just very nervous....
He decided to skate out on the second game as Greensboro had brought a goalie too. Midway through the second that goalie got hurt so we had to suit back up and take an additional 14 shots and take a shoot out for the entire East Coast Eagles team! We won the shoot out!!! I can't tell you how proud of him everyone was! Parents I have never seen before were yelling "Go GAVIN!!! It was awesome!!! Proud, proud, proud Mom!!!!
